我不知道，作為生命的個體，我能存在多久，總之，那是短暫而有限的。在這轉瞬即逝的一生中，我應如何存在呢？我有什麼權利存在呢？僅僅是因為生命本身嗎？
獅子博士的論文強調：弱肉強食，相互競爭。這苦了的卻是羚羊，作為另一種生命的羚羊，生來就是給獅子吃掉的嗎？羚羊的意義，在於獅子的選擇，沒有了獅子，羚羊便失去了它存在的價值了嗎？我確定不了。另一方面，羚羊，也有自己生命的權力。一種生命是沒有義務或權力吃掉另一種生命的，所有的生命在存在和死亡這一命運之前是對等的，生命的權利要求生存。
生命的全部意義，在於存在。死亡是生命的否定，自殺是生命的壓抑，自殺是對生命的最終的和最高的否定，沒有最終慾望的生命是不完整的。生命的發展，在於壓抑中的突破，沒有壓抑的生命是沒有進步動力的，是沒有生存力量的，也即沒有競爭意義的，因為那生命是將死的。
我的對生命的壓抑，讓我感到行世的沉重和悲哀。在自我壓抑中，滋長的只有自尊和敏感。而自尊的極度上升，必是自尊自己的滅亡，最終導致生命的枯竭。作為生命，我熟識了我所不屑的沒有壓抑的生命過程，它是無爆發力的，只是對生命的耗費。
要達到生命的高層次，必經生命的壓抑：在逆境中，外部因素是外來壓抑，在順境中，內部因素是自我壓抑，沒有這兩種壓抑中的一種，生命便很難發展。在壓抑生命的過程中，生命的權利便體現得異常尖銳，它要求極度地生長，急速地成熟，以生命的高層次容納生命的內容。當然，壓抑的生命，若無正常的出口爆發出來，那後果就只有一種——生命放棄權利——走向終結。自殺者，多數的自殺者，都是生命壓抑發洩不當的犧牲品。如果不能有效地控制壓抑的生命，那悲劇的後果是很難避免的，只有自我意識上強有力的自控，才能將壓抑生命的沖天之力引發出來，為生命的再生貢獻力量。
為了生命的進步而自我壓抑，在一定形式上剝奪了生命的權利，在一些不適當的時候，可能會促進自身的滅亡。我能做的，只有導引生命之力，使之迅速生長，以減少生命自身的束縛，最終達到生命的超越，完成生命的歷程。
